WELCOME BACK!

Exciting things are happening at Links Avenue Reserve, the home of Tauranga City AFC. As we charge into 2026, the landscape of football in our region is transforming, providing more access, better playability, and a refreshed home for our members.

The Jewel in the Crown: New Artificial Turf

The long-awaited artificial turf at Links Avenue is now a reality! This isn’t just any playing surface—it is the city’s first carbon-neutral, FIFA-grade artificial turf dedicated to football.

  • Year-Round Access: Unlike traditional grass, which suffers during the wet Bay of Plenty winters, this turf ensures our members have a consistent, world-class surface 365 days a year.

  • Sustainability First: In a New Zealand first, the turf is constructed using fibres derived from sugar cane rather than petroleum-based plastics. It’s even compostable at the end of its life cycle, aligning with TCC commitment to the environment.

  • Growing the Game: This facility unlocks more training and match hours, allowing us to accommodate the soaring demand for football in Tauranga.

Clubroom Upgrades & Facility Improvements

While the action on the pitch is high-tech, we are also ensuring our "off-field" home is up to standard.

  • Ongoing Renovations: Upgrades to the clubrooms are currently in progress to modernise our home at Links. We want Links Ave to be a place where players and families feel proud to gather after the final whistle.

  • Infrastructure Boost: The project has also delivered significant upgrades to drainage, irrigation, and on-site parking, including a new soakage system beneath the car park to handle the heaviest downpours.

Meet Our New Administrator: Erin Berry

We are thrilled to officially welcome Erin Berry to the team! Erin has hit the ground running as our new Administrator, quickly getting up to speed with the complex moving parts of a growing club.

If you see Erin around the clubrooms or have questions regarding registrations and club operations, feel free to say hello! Her energy and organisation are already making a massive difference in how we serve our members.

2026 Highlights & The Road Ahead

Beyond the physical upgrades, there is plenty more to look forward to:

  • Council Fee Changes: Be aware that 2026 brings new standardised facility and field charging from TCC. The club is working hard to ensure a fair "cost recovery" model across all areas, but some increases to fees are inevitable.

  • Regional Collaboration: We are continuing to work closely with WaiBOP and NZ Football to reinstate elite national league pathways to the region, ensuring our local talent doesn't have to look elsewhere to reach the top.

  • Enhanced Talent Development: With the turf now operational, our FC Tauranga Moana Development Programmes and Academy can continue to grow. Already the largest Academy programme in the Bay of Plenty, offering young players more contact time with our qualified coaching staff in a great environment.
