Which league will my team play in?
All Junior and Youth teams compete in the Western Bay of Plenty leagues on Saturday mornings. Our Senior Men’s and Women’s teams compete in every available regional league, with our flagship squads representing the club in the NZF National League.
How does the club communicate with members? Please download our Club App, as this is our primary tool for communicating cancellations, club news, and urgent updates. We also post regularly on Facebook. If you don’t have an account, you can view our live Facebook feed directly on the home page of our website.
When do registrations open? Registrations for the Winter season open in late January. However, our Skills Hubs and Holiday Programmes open for bookings in early January and at the end of each school term throughout the year.
When does the Winter Season run?
Junior & Youth: Terms 2 and 3.
Seniors: March through September.
Should I register for Tauranga City (TCAFC) or FC Tauranga Moana (FCTM)? FCTM holds ID Phases for Academy teams in late February or early March. If you intend to trial for FCTM, please wait until teams are announced before registering with TCAFC. We do not form our community teams until the FCTM ID Phase is complete.
Can I book the Artificial Turf? The turf is open to the public, and we provide goals for the community to enjoy. However, if you are planning an organised game or team session, you must book the space through the local Council.
Where are the games played? Our main clubrooms and home grounds are at Links Avenue Reserve. We also frequently use Ocean Downs Reserve and Macville Park for matches and training.
What development programmes are available? The FCTM Skills Hub is our primary player development pathway for ages 5–17. These sessions are designed to complement winter team trainings or provide off-season skill building. You do not need to be a TCAFC member to participate.
How much are the fees, and how do I pay? Current fees are listed on our main Winter Football page and must be paid online during registration. If you require a payment plan, please email [email protected] to make arrangements.
Is there financial assistance available? Yes. We are committed to making football accessible through payment plans and a limited Hardship Fund. Many members also utilise external funding from Variety Children’s Charity or Make It Happen. We can provide the necessary quotes and invoices for these applications.
What gear do I need for the season? Our official kit consists of an Adidas sky blue shirt, black shorts, and black socks.
Mini Blues (U4–U6): Shorts, socks, shinpads, and boots (or sturdy shoes).
Junior & Youth (U7+): Full club kit (shirt, shorts, socks), shinpads, and boots.
Seniors: Shinpads and boots (playing kit is provided by the club). Branded gear is available at our Online Club Store. While we are an Adidas club, players may wear other brands of socks and shorts (black bike pants are popular for girls).
How can I help out? As a community club, we rely on volunteers! We are always looking for help with small roles, coaching, or managing. If you’re interested in giving back, please email [email protected].
Where do I find game fixtures? Fixtures are posted on the WaiBOP website and mobile app. Note: Game times can change, so please double-check your kickoff time after 1:00 PM every Friday. For Mini Blues and U7 Boys, a full-season draw will be provided online.
How do I know if games are cancelled? Cancellations or ground closures are sent via the Club App and posted on Facebook by 2:00 PM on weekdays and between 7:00 – 7:30 on Saturday morning.
Who referees the games? In community grades, every team is expected to referee at least half of their game. We ask that parents and supporters help out so the responsibility doesn't fall solely on the coach. Free "Community Referee" courses are available via WaiBOP.
What is the expected sideline behaviour? Whether you are a player or a supporter, you represent Tauranga City AFC. We expect everyone to remain positive, respect the referees, and let the players and coaches focus on the game. If you have concerns regarding sideline behaviour, please email [email protected] immediately.
